Sitaula proposes not to hold run-off poll
Krishna Prasad Sitaula, one of the contenders of the party president in the Nepali Congress (NC) 13th General Convention, has proposed against holding the second phase election today.
Sitaula, who was ousted from the presidential race after garnering just 324 votes in the first round election held on Sunday, made the proposal by issuing a press release on Monday.
"We've entered into the run-off poll today. But I believe that positive message can be delivered if we value the votes casted on Sunday," reads the statement.
According to him, the party has to be free of factions.
As the counting of vote completed on Sunday evening, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba secured the highest votes 1564 and his rival contender obtained 1160.
The run-off poll for the presidential post will commence from 2pm to 5pm today at Rastriya Sabha Griha.
